I have a Comcast HDTV box, feeding into my Sony Bravia Home theatre system via coaxial cable, then to my HDTV via component cable. However I do not get a picture this way. I know I can connect the cable box and the Home Theatre system via separate component inputs, but is there a way to use both without switching inputs? Thank you!

Even if you COULD get this system to work, you wouldn’t want to. The coax cable output of the cable box will not be HD, it will be a standard SDTV signal. You want to connect the cable box to the TV using an HD compatible connection (either COMPONENT or HDMI).

If your TV has multiple COMPONENT connections, connect the cable and DVD separately. If the TV has a COMPONENT and an HDMI connection, use the HDMI from your cable (most HD cable boxes have an HDMI connection) and the COMPONENT connection from your DVD. You won’t need a switch, but you will need to use the TV’s "source select" feature to switch between TV and DVR.

Finally, if your TV has only one component input, go out and buy a component video switch (about $30 at radio shack).

So you have decided you want a home theater system. You may even have made the decision of free-standing or in wall-mounted depending on your budget and room- size. Yet there are some many choices. How to you know which system is the best investment for you? Here are seven tips that my husband and I used to make our decision making a bit easier.

Ask yourself if you want to purchase a brand name you know or are the brands online or less known just as reliable? We found brand name did not always mean top-quality nor did it mean high prices.

So what do you need to know before you buy?

Even if you have already purchased a system and found that you should have done your own personal home theater review you can use these tips to make your home theater entertainment the fun-zone in your home.

To find out what style of home theater you want to buy, it’s best to do your research and we found that online saved us time and money. You too can spend less time researching online and then looking in your local stores. Doing a home theater review simplifies the research online for you if you desire an easy way to see what is available from brand names to the best pricing start online. For us we found once we knew what we wanted a visit to the local Retail store just helped us see the home theater systems up close yet the price online saved us over twenty-five percent so we ended up purchasing online and even got free shipping.

Many local stores may have a great selection and offer online discounts if you buy through the internet with the same warranty. With a little digging I found out there is only a few places that provide the warranty-service for all home theater systems regardless of where you purchase them. The best deals aren’t always what are on sale many are the less-known brand online or the close-out only offered online through your local retailers online store.

Your home theater system is not something to purchase spontaneously. While it won’t increase the value of your home in most cases it will add to your enjoyment of your home. When you decide to sell your home the right look can increase selling power and a wall mounted system will add dollars.

It is essential to get precisely what you desire for your home theater. Research is the key to a good home theater review. Compare not only major brands of receivers but also the lesser known. Look at speaker packages and will your current TV work or should you include a new TV in the scope of your research and review? Find out what you exactly need, and what best fits for your lifestyle. Many websites give you an opportunity to build your system and see what you really want and what you thought you needed. When we did our home theater review it was surprising to find we missed a few things that would make our system sound better for less. This review can let you know exactly what you should get without having to purchase anything or get in your car and have a sales person ’sell’ you more than you really need. By building a system you feel you need you can have a better idea of the investment you would like to make and what you really want without purchasing extras you’ll never use.

So ask yourself, what do you need for your home theater?

In order to have a first-class home theater system that meets your budget you will need:

1. To have a screen or television that is fitting to your needs. So ask yourself how big is the room and how many people do you want to seat? Is the room going to be a true theater setting or a home entertainment room like a living room?

2. You want to decide how big you want the picture to be, and whether you should use a television or a screen with a projector based on your answer to the above question. Each choice has benefits and should be found at your local home theater store. A television has more options, while a projector and screen can cover a bigger space.

3. With a screen, you will need to have the projector and get it set up. If you find that a television like a HD or plasma is what you are looking for you will need to have the correct cable and various plug-in types for a DVD, CD and other entertainment.

4. Do you want to add a DVD player or a cable hook up for your input? Be sure to check out the audio wireless home theater systems in your review. You must also use a home theater review for parts like cables to ensure best quality. It is up to you as a consumer to review all of the components you will need and make the best decision for you.

5. Next is our readers’ favorite the correct speakers and hook-ups for the speakers. A great screen and receiver are nothing with cheap speakers. Your speakers should provide a surround sound type of atmosphere, so you should be sure to get all of the correct types of speakers that you will need. Most times a minimum of 5 speakers is needed to get the sound dynamics you want.

6. When doing your home theatre review make sure you can find out where you can also purchase home theater pieces. Today you can have a wireless speaker system and a sound expert will be able to help you make these kinds of decisions. You should be able to find someone with sound expertise wherever you purchase your Home Theatre system even online most stores have a toll-free number to assist you when you are ready.

7. While most people already have their living room ready for entertaining there is a numerous movie-style seats, chairs and so on to add to the experience. You will also want to make sure the lighting works for both theater style movie viewing and perhaps gaming on your system. So in the end you will want to look at your setting and build upon what you have and how you plan to entertain in your home theater.

Entertain and show your new system off!

Finally you have your home theater system setup and ready to go by doing a stellar home theater review, don’t forget the most important part. In order to entertain and show off your home theater you will need to load up on pop-corn and other fun Foods. Host a pot-luck or even a game night with your favorite concert playing on DVD in back ground. A home theater and how you can now entertain friends or just enjoy your home with a special person are now at fingertips. From watching your favorite movies, listening to music or playing video games in a big way are now up to you!

Cruise travel from ports close to home is what passengers want now. In almost all of the cruise reviews, cruise travelers have expressed concern with long airline trips to distant lands. Now they want to cruise from ports that are close to home to enjoy a less stressful cruise vacation. The cruise lines have caught on to this trend and are now positioning their ships up and down the United States East and West Coasts and along the Gulf of Mexico. Let’s explore the ports of embarkation on the West Coast starting in Southern California at the port of San Diego and go northward.

If you can take the time before or after your cruise travel, spend some extra time in San Diego. The city of San Diego is blessed with year round warm weather and seventy miles of Pacific Coastline. There are many activities to enjoy while in the city. They have a first class, world famous zoo in Balboa Park. At Old Town State Historic Park learn about the History of California. Near the downtown area there are 15 excellent museums and gorgeous gardens.

A little further up north is Long Beach just 20 miles south of Los Angeles. Here is where the Queen Mary retired to in 1967 and is permanently docked serving as a Hotel. With more 12,000 sea creatures the aquarium is a delightful spot to spend a couple of hours.

If you plan to take your cruise vacation out of Los Angeles there are plenty of sights to see. A pre or post cruise package from the cruise lines will allow you to see the many cultural centers or drive by the star studded neighborhoods of Malibu, Bel Air and Hollywood. Be sure to see Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Chinatown and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Visit funky Venice Beach and dine in the many excellent restaurants. And don’t forget to at least window shop on Rodeo Drive.

The dazzling Golden Gate Bridge will be what you sail under on you cruise vacation from San Francisco. Many cruise reviews have mentioned this city as one of the favorites from which to start a cruise. You may opt to take a side trip to the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Valleys for a day. While in San Francisco check out Fisherman’s Wharf, or take a cable car ride through the city. In this city there are numerous excellent restaurants. There is a ferry that will take you over to Alcatraz Island for a glimpse into the life of the prisoners.

Perhaps you have chosen Seattle, Washington as your embarkation port. The lovely Puget Sound area is rich with history of the maritime industries. The Olympic Mountains will leave you feeling awed when viewed from the Space Needle that is 607 feet high. For fun don’t miss the Pike Street Market for fresh seafood and produce. There are many fleets of sport fishing boats for fishing or for whale watching.

Even further up the coast you are now in Alaskan territory. Fairbanks, which was once a booming mining town, is the entrance to Alaska’s interior. If you stay here for a day or two try a really Alaskan adventure and go dog sledding. Maybe you would like to pan for gold, another part of Alaska’s history. If you want to see the Northern Lights plan your cruise vacation for late August or early September.

Choosing a cruise vacation out of Whitter, Alaska will allow you to go whale watching, and look for sea lions and bald eagles. This is a small quaint town that really lets you feel what Alaska is all about.

You will fly into Anchorage for departure from Seward, Alaska. Try to stay a few days to explore the riches Anchorage has to offer. There is the beautiful Denali National Park, where Mt. McKinney offers spectacular scenery. In Seward you can take a cruise to the Kenai Fjords as a day trip.

Any of these cruise ports will make a great start for your cruise vacation. So when planning any cruise travel pick a port that’s close to home and leave some time for exploring the town of embarkation.

what is the best Home theatre system under 1000 dollars?

Onkyo is a respectable brand, which also has a high-end line – INTEGRA.
In the $1000 range, the HTiB systems are about the same soundwise – bright, sharp, no real bass. Acceptable for movies, not really usable for music – unless you use 192kb doanloads.
If this is your range – go by features, quality of built (avoid plastic enclosure for speakers), etc.

We have all enjoyed watching movies at the cinemas. The atmosphere and the good sense of relaxing that comes with the movie theater trip can seldom be duplicated. Let’s face it, this might be one of our motivating factors to go. We certainly know it isn’t for there excellent price specials.

Sometimes you may have wished that you could have stayed at home to watch the flick instead. The technology of today has made this a reality for a great many of us. Custom home theaters can truly make your home movie watching even more pleasurable. Now, lets look at a few items that are needed in this home theater.

Now what can you do to have a custom home theater? Well to get the custom home theaters look and feel you will need a separate room for the theatre experience. One that is solely dedicated to the home theater room. Trust me many have tried to have a room serve more than this purpose and it’s never really worked out. This room will need to be transformed into a movie plaza. To accomplish this you will need to get rid of all the other stuff that you have crowded in the room.

This means nothing that isn’t contributing to your new home theater room. This means no treadmill or elliptical, no bean bags or futons and no other erroneous stuff that has no home in the house. This is important, because you must be able to have room for the seating.

You will need to see if there is enough light in the room to give your custom home theater the necessary atmosphere that it may need. Also, is must be enough lighting for the other tasks that you might be doing. With lighting you have many options. One that you might consider is dimming styled light fixtures. This way you can have the light you need for most occasions, if it is needed.

One of the best ways that you can have oodles of lights in the room, without having to wire in new light fixtures, is to buy some floor lamps that have multiple lights. Now if you can get these lights to swivel in various directions you can then position the lights where they will do the greatest good in various custom home theater designs.

After having emptied your home base (that extra room) for custom home theaters and the accessories that are required you need to find a home for your big projection screen. This home must be strategically placed in the room, so where ever you sit it is comfortable viewing. Remember, one of the goals is comfort. It also should be situated preferably where sunlight and other lights in the room won’t surface to be a big distraction. Any windows that are in the room can be covered with tasteful drapes. However, the best scenario is to have a room with no windows.

Now having lugged your brand new home theater projection system (big screen TV) into place you will need to see about the seating arrangements. The main goal in custom home theaters is that your family and friends should be very comfortable during the movie watching period. Hence you will need to see about having a good Home Theatre seating arrangement.

There are several different arrangements one can have. So, discover and document your needs. For instance, how many people on the average do you want to accommodate? Do you have kids that have friends? Does your family like to entertain guests on a frequent basis? Just a few things to ask yourself. This will give you a better understanding of your home theater needs.

There are many places on the Net where you can get various dissimilar home theater chairs and accessories to add to the various looks that you want in custom home theaters. The accessories can be minimal and still have a good look.

When you have added all of these items into your new entertainment center you will find that you have recreated a movie theater right in your home. Now you can sit back, with popcorn in hand and enjoy the show.

Old Trafford Football Ground is located at – Sir Matt Busby Way, Old Trafford, Manchester. Sir Matt Busby Way was created in 1993, and was formerly known as Warwick Road North.

The ground’s nickname is the Theatre Of Dreams.

Old Trafford has been Manchester United’s home since 1910, with the exception of an eight-year period from 1941 to 1949, when it was bombed in the second world war. During that period United played their ‘home’ games at the ground of their rivals, Manchester City – at a financial cost of course. They had to pay City for the privilege consisting of a flat fee, and a gate percentage.

Old Trafford’s current capacity is over 76,000. It’s hoped that in time it will expand even further to 90,000 with greater capacity in the South Stand.

The ground has frequently hosted FA Cup semi-final matches as a neutral venue and several England international fixtures while the new Wembley Stadium was under construction. Before Wembley Stadium was built in 1923 the FA Cup Finals were played around the country, with Old Trafford Hosting several of these.

Manchester United were formerly called Newton Heath, but it was decided in 1909 to build a new stadium. Designed by Scottish architect Archibald Leitch, the ground featured seating in the south stand under cover, while the remaining three stands were uncovered terraces.

In 1965 the old roof pillars were replaced with modern-style cantilevering on top of the roof, allowing all spectators a completely unobstructed view. This was an important step, as the World Cup was to be staged in the UK in the following year, 1966. Old Trafford was one of the venues used for the tournament.

By the 1980’s the capacity had dropped to around 60,000 due to all the improvements in the ground. The capacity dropped still further in 1990, when the Taylor Report recommended, for safety reasons, and with the Government’s agreement, that all stadia be converted to all-seaters.

Old Trafford’s most recent expansion, which took place between July 2005 and May 2006, saw an increase of around 8,000 seats with the addition of second tiers to both the north-west and north-east sections of the ground.

Further redevelopments saw United buy up additional land round about.

The Old Trafford pitch is now surrounded by four covered all-seater stands, officially known as the North, East, South and West Stands. The West End is the ‘Stretford End’ where the diehard, most vocal, United fans sit.

On 29 May 2008, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Manchester United’s first European Cup title, a statue of the club’s old stars of George Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton, entitled “The United Trinity”, was unveiled across Sir Matt Busby Way from the East Stand.

The ground continues to break attendance records. The newer Emirates Stadium, Home of Arsenal FC, has a lower capacity, just over 60,000. Only one football ground has a higher capacity than the Theatre of Dreams, and that’s at the new Wembley Stadium in London.

Manchester United supporters have an insatiable appetite for watching their team play. It seems that however big the ground gets, the seats will almost always be filled. That’s what success on the pitch does for this wonderful game, and this glorious team that is Manchester United.

I have all the wires in my house run for the speakers throughout the walls. I want the receiver to be located in the kitchen. I want to be able to control the Home Theatre(tv) and the Home audio all from the kitchen. Must be able to shut off home theatre and listen to home audio or vice versa. Thank you!

ok it sounds to me like your looking for a fiew things. what I reccomend is a reciever with 2 zone audio. You can get yamaha, denon, or marantz for a good price and they all are good, user friendly, and pretty easy to set up. Now for controll over the whole house you can use a rf remote from universal remotes like the mx 900 with a ir repeater like the mrf350. if you have multiple rooms then you will want to look into a speaker selecter with volume contolls. Nile makes a good one.

Home Health mobility aids can help carrying out day to day medical tasks. Whether to assist with recuperation, or to help a healthcare professional, there are various mobility aids to make home health tasks easier to carry out.

Here are 8 types of home health mobility aids which are designed to make your life easier.

1.Medicine dispensers or pill boxes are useful for those who may have to take several doses of medication a day. For example, some dispensers can store a weeks worth of medication, also making it ideal for holidays. Different sorts are available which may feature an alarm to inform the user when its time to take the medication. The dispensers are usually labelled with the day of the week so that the user and or a carer can see whether the medication has been taken.

2.Tablet cutters and crushers can make preparing medication easier for the individual as well as the healthcare professional. Depending on the model, the tablet cutter may have a storage compartment for pills. Pill crushers can be ideal for dispensing medicine to children or those who have difficulties swallowing.

3.A TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine, works by passing a very small electrical current across the nerve which carries the pain signal to the brain. If the brain receives no pain signal, then you feel no pain. TENS machines usually have variable settings and programmes so that you are able to manage the pain simply and effectively. They are small, discreet and portable so that you can take them with you. Similar to a TENS machine, a pen type device uses an electric pulse to activate the body’s endorphins. This type of device is effective on minor, chronic or acute pain such as back pain, headache and arthritis.

4.For those who are struggling to hear conversations, or find themselves turning up the radio or TV, there are a number of devices which can help. A sound magnifier is similar in size to a personal stereo, and amplifies the sound through headphones. This means that the TV or radio can be kept at a low enough volume so as not to disturb others. It is ideal for use at the cinema, and the theatre for example, as well as in the home and garden. An in-ear hearing device is discreet and will provide a welcome volume and clarity boost to those who need it most. As the name suggests, they fit inside the ear, unlike headphones. A traditional style hearing aid is still a popular choice, and has a sensitive microphone. This type of hearing aid fits comfortably behind the ear, making it ideal for wearing for a long time, such as throughout the day or evening.

5.Thermometers can play a vital part in healthcare, and having an accurate, easy to read thermometer can save time. Digital thermometers have an easy to read LCD display, and a long battery life. An infra-red in ear thermometer can take an accurate reading within seconds, and some models can save several previous readings to allow comparisons to be made. A thermometer shaped like an infant’s dummy can be used to take the temperature of a child quickly and easily, without causing too much distress to the child.

6.Various supports and braces are available to help treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, arthritis, tendonitis and other wrist disorders and injuries. There are various types available, depending on the condition and the user’s requirements. Different types of splints and supports are available for other conditions, and other limbs.

7.Exercise and rehabilitation products can also be used at home, perhaps in conjunction with physiotherapy or other medical treatment. From gel ball hand exercisers to running machines, there are many suitable products available to help with rehabilitation as recommended by medical experts.

8.For people affected by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) the winter months can be a depressing time. Symptoms such as depression, lethargy, anxiety sleeplessness and social problems are common in those suffering with SAD. SAD is usually attributed to the lack of daylight during the winter months. Light affects the body in a number of ways and also affects the levels of melatonin, adrenalin, seratonin and dopamine, which influence moods, emotions, eating and sleeping. Light treatments are shown to have a positive effect for those with SAD, as well as for treating jet lag. There are different types of light treatments available, which range from small portable lights to much larger briefcase sized devices.

These are just a few examples of the range and variety of household health aids that are available. Why not see if there’s a mobility health product that could make your daily living easier?

Home Audio Speakers

Posted In: Home Theatre by admin

Sound, also perceived as the sense of hearing, is an integral part of our lives. Without the ability to hear or reproduce sound we are not complete. Sound is the vibrations that travel through air and can be sensed by our ears. Thus it is a medium of communication. It is used to gather information and knowledge about properties of the environment surrounding us. Sound can Travel through air, water, and solids. These help sound waves travel and are known as medium. In normal conditions, human can hear a varied frequency range. But, sometimes we need to amplify the sound output for better quality of hearing. This requires the help of speakers.

Speakers are devices, which convert electromagnetic signals into sound vibrations. Thus speakers are machines that enable us to hear sounds, which have their origin somewhere else. Speakers, also termed as loudspeakers are attached to an audio system, which provides the electromagnetic signals that are then reproduced in the wavelength, which humans can decipher. The loudspeaker is the most variable element in an audio system, and is responsible for marked audible differences between systems.

Home audio systems have come a long way since their inception as just another loudspeaker system. They have become a part and parcel of our every day lives. Today, many versions of home audio systems have evolved into our homes. Technological enhancements have made sure that we can take our audio or sound system wherever we go. As speaker systems are the most important part in the output of sound, they have evolved greatly. Many versions of speaker systems are available in the market today. Depending upon your choice of price and your perception of quality, you can opt for the one that best caters to your requirements.

Speakers are an integral part of any audio system, be it a simple radio or a home theatre system. Home audio speakers are generally multi-drive systems, i.e. they contain two or more drive units. These include woofers, midranges, tweeters, and sometimes horns or super tweeters. A Home Theatre system is complete only if all the above mentioned add-ons are attached with it to give a theatre-like sound experience. In home audio speaker specifications, the speakers are classified as “N-way” speakers. It indicates the number of bands of different frequency into which the system divides the sound. A 2-way system consists of woofers and tweeters, a 3-way system consists of mid-range speakers with a combination of woofers and tweeters. It depends upon person to person; rather there exists different perceptions towards the quality of sound and thus the drives in a speaker.

If and when you decide upon purchasing a home audio speaker system, you will be spoilt for choice. They come in various ranges of quality and pricing, thus you need to decide carefully what caters to your specific set of requirements. Good audio companies make available a host of choices for speaker systems that can gel with your audio systems. They also provide different designs and creations of speakers that fit into your décor. You can place your systems in such a way that it gives you the optimum output.
